A state bill passed the legislature in Late-Summer and awaited the governor's signature, with Los Angeles among seven cities it could affect.
In Los Angeles, the measure would require regional transit hub districts and allow residential height limits reaching at least 150 feet near qualifying transit.
It also would require Los Angeles to permit residential buildings up to at least 450 feet in at least a quarter of those districts.
The measure fit into California's broader push for more homes by 2030, linking Los Angeles density policy to long-term statewide housing goals.
If signed, the measure would trigger a state study on housing construction loans and financing while a committee analysis flagged unknown Los Angeles costs.
